The Void is an inaccessible space that exists outside the Multiverse. It can only be accessed by Starshifters and is used as a shortcut to travel within universes. Attempting to travel between universes, or to separate dimensions is much  more difficult, and should only ever be attempted by highly experienced Starshifters.

The Void is connected to weak points in the fabric of reality, called faultlines, which make portals easier to open, however,  continuous use can cause them to become unstable.
